WHAT ARE PEACE CLUBS?

Peace Clubs is an educational tool used to empower individuals and communities with skills, knowledge, and practice in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. The materials are both thorough and easy to use and can be adapted to a variety of contexts – primary and secondary schools, community groups, prisons, refugee camps, families, church and Sunday School, etc.

Peace Club Tree Represents 3 Core Beliefs:

  1. Conflict transformation and resolution must start at the root of the conflict.
  2. Sustainable peace is built through community involvement, as the elders of a village would traditionally gather beneath a tree to share their wisdom and resolve conflicts.
  3. The baobab tree is indigenous to Zambia, and represents our commitment to indigenous wisdom in conflict transformation and resolution. Other countries will have other indigenous trees that symbolize Peace Clubs.

HOW TO USE THIS WEBSITE:

Everyone must register and log in.

The first Course on the bottom of this page is the General Peace Club Forum. It is recommended that everyone enroll and subscribe to this Forum. If you have questions or want to discuss Peace Club topics, you can post here and connect with others on the site. This "Forum" course can be used to share files and stories about experiences with Peace Clubs.

Below General Peace Club Forum you can see a list of other courses. Once you are registered, you can enroll in courses by going to the course and clicking the Enroll button.

Note: Some courses are set up for special groups and do not allow outside enrolment.

IF YOU ARE A TEACHER

    • There are templates of courses made up from the Peace Clubs curriculum that can be used for your club or class to read and discuss Peacebuilding online or as a hybrid class that combines in-person meetings with online discussion in Forums.
    • This course would be private to your group only.
    • You can see examples of courses in the Online Peace Clubs category Conflict Transformation (an overview) and Conflict Resolution/Transformation
    • To request a course go to the Courses page HERE. Click on Request a Course and fill out the information. The website administrator will create a course for your group, be in contact to help with setting up the course, and will be available to help with questions as your course progresses.
    • Teachers can also organize an exchange of information or stories with one or more other Peace Clubs by setting up a separate Course which the members of all the clubs can access.  Request this from the website administrator through the same Courses page.

IF YOU WANT TO START A PEACE CLUB

  • Enroll yourself in the course Starting a Peace Club and best practices (Overview) and read through the Overview
  • Then Enroll in API Peace Club Training to work through the more detailed information about Peace Clubs
  • There will be a Course Facilitator who you should contact about checking your progress and who will help with your questions
IF YOU ARE AN INDIVIDUAL
    • To work through the six sections of the Peace Clubs curriculum, you can enroll in the courses in the Online Peace Club Classes category.
    • These are self-study classes with forums for discussions with others.
IF YOU ARE AN ORGANIZATION
    • You can request a Course for your group and use it in a way that is similar to Teams in that you can share files, discuss topics, meet live online, etc. The privacy of the group is protected.  To request go to Courses page HERE. Click on Request a course and fill out the information.
    • Your organization can also request a personalized course in order to create your own online training (hybrid or completely online). Go to the same Courses page link as above.
    • The website administrator will contact you about setting up your request.
MOBILE APP FOR THIS SITE

There is a Mobile App that can be used for all the classes on this site. It is available in Google Play. And you can also find a link at the bottom of every page here at PeaceClubsInternational.org
